Pawty

Terms of use

Last updated October 14, 2026. These terms cover the Pawty iPhone app and this website.

The short version

  • You're 18 or older, and you only listen where it's okay to.
  • Pawty shares what it notices about your dog's sounds. It isn't a vet and it doesn't tell you what your dog means.
  • Your data is yours. You can delete it any time.
  • The ideas board is public to other users. Keep it kind and clean: we remove anything objectionable within 24 hours of a report, and remove users who post it.
  • Pawty sends notifications only for record reminders you set and when your dog has a new word. Turn them off in iPhone Settings.

1. Agreement

By using Pawty you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't use it. Pawty is run by Roshan Pati ([legal entity name]), "we" below.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 and able to enter this agreement. Pawty is for you and your own dog. One account is for one person. Keep your Apple sign-in secure.

3. The app as it is

We keep improving Pawty, so features may change, move or go away, and the app may have bugs or stop working. Don't rely on it for anything important. We may update, suspend or end the app or your access at any time. Feedback is welcome, and you let us use it freely to improve the app.

4. Listening: your responsibilities

5. Your content

Your dog's sounds, tags, notes, photos, trick videos, your Dogodex and vet papers stay yours. You give us permission to store, copy, process and analyze them to run Pawty for you, and to learn how dogs sound so we can improve the app, as described in the privacy policy. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for anything already folded into our general models in a way that can't be traced back to you, and routine backups for a limited time. We won't share your content with research partners unless you turn that on in the app, and we won't sell it.

You promise you have the right to add what you add (for example, you own the vet papers or are allowed to share them, and the people and dogs you photograph are fine with a public card link). A Pawty card link can be seen by anyone who has it until you tap "Stop sharing" on the card.

6. What Pawty is and isn't

7. The ideas board and other content others can see

The ideas board lets signed-in users post ideas for Pawty and add their paw to others. A post shows your dog's photo and name as "[dog]'s human", never your own name. Pawty card links are also visible to anyone who has them. For anything other users can see:

Ideas you post are ideas we are free to use, without payment or credit. Posting doesn't promise we'll build anything.

8. Rules

Don't misuse Pawty: no breaking the law, no reverse engineering or attacking our servers, no uploading things you don't have rights to, and no content that is harmful to others. We can suspend or end an account that does.

9. Deleting your data and ending

You can delete a sound, or your account and all its data, in the app (Dog tab) any time, or stop using Pawty. We can end your access at any time, for example if you break these terms. See the privacy policy for what deletion removes.

10. No warranty

Pawty is provided "as is" and "as available", without promises of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise it will be accurate, always working, or free of errors.

11. Limits on our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost profits from using Pawty, and our total liability to you for anything related to Pawty is limited to US$50. Nothing here limits a right you have by law that can't be limited.

12. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no duty to provide support or maintenance for Pawty, isn't responsible for claims about it, and isn't responsible for any warranty. If Pawty fails to meet a legal warranty, you can tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (Pawty is free, so there is none); Apple has no other warranty duty. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Apple's own terms also apply to your use of the App Store.

13. Law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of [governing-law state], United States, except where your local law says otherwise. We may update these terms; if the change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email first. Using Pawty after a change means you accept it.
